In the world of healthcare, optimizing medication costs while ensuring patient well-being is a delicate balance. RazorMetrics, a leading healthcare technology company, is revolutionizing this process by facilitating prescription switches through effective communication between prescribers, patients, and pharmacists. Leveraging our proprietary Intervention Codex, we provide cost-effective, therapeutically equivalent alternatives and improve healthcare affordability without compromising quality.

Regarding prescription switches, RazorMetrics adopts a collaborative approach involving prescribers, patients, and pharmacists. We do not mandate members to confirm the switches recommended by their physicians. Instead, we provide prescribers with comprehensive switch recommendations in the form of an official medication change order. These recommendations are sent electronically to the prescriber’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system via eFax, ensuring seamless integration.

Prescribers are solely responsible for medication changes. We give them the right information to make the best decision for the patient. Once the Intervention Codex is tailored to each client’s unique attributes, such as formulary, cost indicators, and other client directives, then the AI looks for lower-cost, clinically equivalent alternatives for every member. The prescriber is contacted with the recommendation when an appropriate switch is identified. At this point, the prescriber can accept or reject the switch.

RazorMetrics is meticulous when it comes to process documentation. The completed change orders are captured using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, documenting the switch in the system. This documentation serves as evidence of the prescriber’s involvement and supports transparency in the medication switch process.

Employing a robust tracking system, RazorMetrics monitors and effectively confirms prescription switches. Once the member picks up the new medication from the pharmacy and subsequent prescription claims are filed, we capture the completed switches. This ongoing tracking verifies that the switch remains intact and ensures that members have not returned to the previous medication or failed to pick up the new prescription.

RazorMetrics is revolutionizing the prescription switch process by facilitating enhanced communication between prescribers, patients, and pharmacists. We demonstrate our commitment to improving healthcare affordability by prioritizing cost savings while upholding patient well-being. With diligent process documentation and ongoing tracking, RazorMetrics ensures transparency, compliance, and the long-term success of prescription switches, lowering pharmacy costs for clients.

Pharmacy Deserts Are Growing

Walgreens just announced they are closing 1,200 stores, coming on the heels of similar announcements by other national retain chains. As national pharmacy chains shutter hundreds of stores, a troubling trend is emerging: the creation of pharmacy deserts. These closures, combined with the decline of independent pharmacies, are leaving many communities—especially rural and low-income areas—without access to essential medications and healthcare services. The closures are blamed on declining profits, competitive pressures from online retailers, and regulatory challenges.
